In the end we didn't find a good, reliable translator. For those that don't know yet, there's been a wiki translation at http://www.tsukuru.info/tlwiki/index.php?title=Saya_no_Uta
I've been too busy to check their translation, but haven't heard the quality would be subpar.
Thanks to orochi, sebadoes, Message and the others for their work on SnU. In the end there's a translation for this little gem, and that's what I wanted.

BAD END: After the first translator gave up, we went through a bunch of people that would translate, but sooner or later they just ceased communicating. Recruiting people this way didn't really turn up reliable people; we asked all the translators we knew but none were interested. I highly doubt an open Wiki translation would help.
The difficulty of the game is quite high, about the level of Fate/Stay Night. The fanbase of SnU is much smaller than FSN, so I highly doubt we'll get out of this.
I still want a partial release of the game. Our editor will be busy with other stuff for quite a while, so don't expect anything before Spring.

One translator had to give up on the test because of difficulty.
One application is still being processed, we're looking into it.
One genius translator showed up, but bailed out quickly when I asked him to take the TL test. He "didn't feel like wasting time on something which is already translated".
One translator gracefully passed the TL test and already picked up the translation where we left off. Welcome aboard!
Updates will follow when needed~

An update, since it's been so long and there has actually been any progress:
thanks to our lovely friends, some translators have shown interest for the game!

Bad news: our translator gave up. His knowledge of Japanese is fairly good, but the lengthy and detailed descriptions of the game were too much for him. I understand there's not much fun when you're constantly struggling with a dictionary at hand. It's not a very lengthy game, but not an easy one either.
We are recruiting one or more translators with more experience. If you would like to join the project, take our translation test so we would get an idea of your capacities. Part #5 is optional: give it a try if you feel ready for Nightmare Mode.
E-mail your translation along with your notes (how much time you took, difficulty you experienced,...) to me. Let's say you can apply until the end of the month.

We started using SVN. Translation looks good, our editor will get started once he has finished his projects.
And oh, don't get things wrong: this is not an official Mirrormoon project, but it won't be QUALITY like the first translation.

About time we launch a small, humble project site. We're using a domain name from mirror moon because of all the involved people.
The busy month of January is over, so things should speed up a bit now.
PS: Happy Valentine. Saya loves you.
